12/28/19-Roxie and Alfred is almost ready to be released. Interior edits and cover have been approved. I am hoping it's with the printer now and that they will soon send out ARCs (advanced reader copies) that I may send to the many people who helped me get it all together (including Beta Readers, friends and family.)

Update on Roxie and Alfred, due out around March of 2020.

ROXIE AND ALFRED:
A story of courage, resilience, and Survival

The lives of Roxie and Alfred are about to change forever. Their relationship was already rocky from past transgressions. But now, at the height of prohibition, moving from their safe but meager farm-life in North Carolina to the thriving, gritty northern metropolis of Detroit, Michigan, they will be faced with the criminal underbelly of the city, the hopelessness of, Great Depression of 1929 and the stress and loss of WWII.

Their ability to successfully thrive while coping with adversity is the legacy they leave their extended family, who pick up where Roxie and Alfred leave off and take on life in the big city one day at a time.

Update on Roxie and Alfred

The process of publishing Roxie and Alfred is now in full swing. It will be released sometime before Christmas, 2019, and will be available on Amazon.com in paperback and as an e-book. My publisher is working on the cover as we speak. I have submitted my ideas and they will decide if they are feasible. Here's a picture of what I have in mind.

I am in hopes that we can include lots of pictures inside, as I have so many good ones.......old but in good shape. I think they will make my story come to life. I am in hopes my readers will love it.
Her daughter’s mistake was falling for a local member of the Purple Gang. Roxie had to take care of it….right away!

Roxie and Alfred: A Story of Courage, Resilience, and Survival

Roxie
Alfred
tells the story of one courageous American family who leave behind their safe but meager farm-life in North Carolina to seek fame and fortune in the thriving, gritty northern metropolis of Detroit at the height of prohibition, when organized crime and violence was a way of life. Having escaped serious threats from the Purple Gang, they are later met with the Great Depression of 1929, and World War Two in 1939. Their ability to successfully thrive while coping with adversity is the legacy they leave their extended family, who pick up where Roxie and Alfred leave off and take on life in the city one day at a time. The book is structured thematically around the phenomenon of survival.

Most recent review of: Operatic Divas and Naked Irishmen...

Lana Smith rated it as amazing on Goodreads
"It was a wonderful read. The author placed you right into her shoes. She moved from one place, the big bustling city of Chicago, to the historic Old Louisville, Kentucky. She went from school teacher to innkeeper. 20 years of maintaining a Victorian mansion, and hosting new guests from all walks of life, each unique with their own tales, their own unique situations. Every chapter ended with a recipe, something sweet or savory. I enjoyed the read so much bc i could visualize each situation so well, almost like a movie playing in my mind. The author places you right into her shoes, makes you feel what she is feeling. It is so enjoyable that I may just read it again."
