Doris
was the first to open a bed and breakfast in Old Louisville. She had purchased
a very large old mansion on third St, the nicest block there. By the time I
moved to Louisville and opened my inn, she had a successful business going.
I quickly decided she would make a great mentor to help me get started and she agreed. She knew the ropes and soon took myself and two other beginning innkeepers under her wing.
Doris looked as though she had. just stepped out of a Dickens novel: hair in a knot at her neck, no makeup, and Victorian clothing, complete with white lace collar, shawl. and apron. She didn't smile much and was very business-like.
